International Day for the Elimination of Race Discrimination March 21, 2023
International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination recognizes that the injustices and prejudices fueled by racial discrimination take place every day. Observed annually on March 21, it commemorates the day police in Sharpeville, South Africa, opened fire and killed 69 people at a peaceful demonstration against apartheid “pass laws” in 1960.

We acknowledge that we are located on Treaty 1 territory , the traditional land the of Anishinaabe, Ininewak, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene Peoples, and the homeland of the Métis Nation.
We respect the Treaties that were made on these territories, we acknowledge the harms and mistakes of the past, and we dedicate ourselves to move forward in partnership with Indigenous communities in a spirit of reconciliation and collaboration. We also acknowledge that we receive our water from shoal lake, treaty 3 territory in which nourishes our body and feeds our lives.
